There's a real sense of history here; hardly surprising, as this
15th Century watchtower, now a lovingly restored, adults-only
retreat, stands in 100 hectares of ancient and tranquil orchard
landscape. Its centrepiece is the huge, seawater pool, which
provides a perfect respite from the hot, dry climate, as does the
marvellous Thalassotherapy spa. The overall mood is of grand
comfort, with antiques and rich fabrics - although it still feels
light and airy. There's great golf and a private beach, and don't
miss the restaurant with its spectacular vaulted ceiling and
delicious Puglian cuisine - like the hotel, it's a real taste of an
authentic Italy.
